The Plan

Update 2017. While we hoped we could revive this project it has not happened. If anyone is interested in taking over, please leave a comment.

Knit lots of hats and scarves for patients and survivors or breast and ovarian cancers to be donated to the Komen Foundation for the Cure, Philadelphia Affiliate. We fully support monetary fund raising efforts for the cure. But we also want to do something which will go directly to those who need to know there are people rooting for their health and survival. All skill levels are welcome!

Please join us! The 2011 project ends Sept. 15th.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I still join?
Yes! You can join any time. Hop into the project with the pattern we are working on, or start at the begging with the post, "The First Pattern".

2. Do I have to use Pink yarn?
nope - use what ever makes you happy  -  use something you would wear.

3. Do I have to make all the patterns?
We hope you will. We encourage you to knit as many as possible. The more items we get - the more women will benefit. However, we are reasonable people and understand that that may not be possible. Whatever you can do - it will be more than nothing and we thank you for that.

4. Can I make the same pattern over and over because I love it?
          Yes please!

4. How do I know if the hat fits?
We recommend that you make the hat to fit yourself.  If it fits you, it's more likely it will also fit someone else.

6. Do I have to do the yarn exchange scarf?
No. This is an optional fun project - but we do hope that at least 20 of you will want to participate.

7. Where do I mail things when I'm done with them?
           Pinkknit-a-thon
           PO Box 8352
           Philadelphia, PA 19101

8. Do I have to wait until September to mail things?
No - mail things as you wish. You can save them all up and mail them all at once. Or you can send them along as you finish them.

9. When do we knit the hat on the logo?
The hat on the logo will be the third hat in the series.
